What You’ll Do

The Small Commercial Underwriter is responsible for the support generating a profitable revenue stream, as well as developing and maintaining relationships with retail agents and insurance companies.    

 

Essential job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Create and manage a profitable book of new and renewal business
  • Prospect for new business by developing relationships with retail agents
  • Deliver quotes and binders to retail agents
  • Remain up to date with new insurance company offers
  • Prospect for new business markets and lines of insurance to write
  • Mentor and train new team members
  • Assist in the day-to-day operations
  • Other duties as assigned

You Should Have:

  • Five to ten years of E&S binding authority experience
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred
  • Knowledge of the sales process and understanding of pipeline management
  • Excellent analytical skills to participate in advanced discussions and decision-making
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, to include presentation skills
  • Ability to travel
  • Applicable state P&C and Surplus Lines License
