What You’ll Do

The Underwriting Tech works closely with the Underwriting Assistant to ensure accurate and timely workflow processes for handling all transactions and requests, as a team, during the policy issuance and quotation process. The Underwriting Tech may set up all submission files in addition to scanning and e-mailing quotes to agencies in addition to creating and updating files and rating policies on carrier policy rating systems.

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Rate policies using carrier rating systems for assigned programs
  • Compile necessary data, reports and logs, as requested by the Underwriting Assistant or the Program Underwriters
  • Handle all necessary transactions and requests once the policy is bound
  • Preparation of file documents
  • Order and review loss control reports
  • Compliance with Insurance Carriers’ reporting requirements and policy registry
  • Policy service on existing and new accounts including endorsements and confirming coverage
  • Carrier queries on files
  • Checking policies and endorsements for accuracy when issued by carrier
  • Request billings on binders and additional premium endorsements 
  • Review set-up and input new business, renewals endoresments, cancellations, and policy changes
  • Maintain positive and professional written and oral communications internally and externally

 

You Should Have:

  • College degree is preferred
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Professional communication and customer service skills 
  • Previous education or experience working with insurance coverage,rating, and industry practices is preferred
