What You’ll Do

As a Summer Intern you will work within our teams in coordinating and providing IMA services to our commercial clients.

  • 10-12 week full-time, paid summer internship, including:

o A range of work assignments and professional exposure inside an insurance brokerage

o Rotations in different departments for varied learning opportunities and skill development

o Assignment to a “Peer Mentor” as a resource to guide you through summer experience

o Assignment to an “Academic Mentor” to provide you with education at a macro-level

about the entire insurance industry, i.e., carriers, brokers, wholesalers, reinsurers, other

service providers

  • You will gain a thorough understanding of the insurance industry and how it operates, including basic understanding of:

o Underwriting and rating

o Loss control and risk management

o Claim management and claim administration

o Various coverage forms and policy types

o Relationship between businesses/policyholders, brokers and insurance companies

  • You will be asked to:

o Attend business meetings and client meetings

o Perform research and analyze data

o Draft reports

o Develop presentation materials

o Develop and deliver a final presentation of your internship experience to senior management

  • Potential travel to other offices

You Should Have:

  • Completed your Sophomore year and are in your Junior or Senior year of school
  • Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy as much of the work involves personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization, generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion
  • Strong math skills with the ability to carry out detailed written and oral instructions
  • Computer proficiency with multiple applications (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • A willingness to complete additional duties and take on additional responsibility as the need arises
