    What You’ll Do

    As an Underwriting Tech you will be responsible for managing the day to day workflow processes required, provide technical support for the Underwriters and Underwriter Assistants, evaluate all underwriting information provided to ensure it meets the necessary Eydent requirements, and maintain timely and accurate work flow processes.  You will oversee the workflow process from start to finish using insurance carrier rating systems from submission through issuance.  

     

    Essential job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Prepare renewals, new business and endorsement requests for the underwriter by gathering and evaluating exposure data (credit information, claims history, statements of values, payroll, fleet lists, etc.), identifying rates and various coverage options, and entering information into databases
    • Initiate and respond promptly to telephone and written inquiries from other Eydent staff about processing, policy change requests, billing status, new applications, and ratings
    • File setup: rating and/or rating overview
    • Handle all necessary transactions and requests once coverage is bound
    • Check policies - endorsements for accuracy when issued by carrier(s)
    • Assist with team development and individual training with the Program
    • Maintain positive and professional written and oral communications internally and externally 

    You Should Have:

    • High School Diploma (or equivalent) combined with 2-3 years of office experience, preferably processing and communication of policies
    • Associate Degree or experience equivalent to a degree (Bachelor’s Preferred); continuing insurance education desired
    • Excellent written and communication skills and a positive attitude
    • Strong reasoning skills and the ability to analyze and interpret data and can clearly communicate ideas in a concise manner 
    • The ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks while meeting deadlines
    • Some level of knowledge of property and/or casualty insurance coverages, rating procedures, rating plans and system/workflow; regulatory issues and industry practices preferred 
    • The ability to work independently and to also work in a team environment
    • Basic math skills
    • Strong computer proficiency with Microsoft Office products and other programs
    • The willingness to complete additional duties and take on additional responsibilities as the need arises
