    What You’ll Do

    As an Underwriter you will be responsible for managing the day to day workflow processes required, evaluate all underwriting information provided to ensure it meets the necessary Eydent requirements and maintain timely and accurate work flow processes.  In additional, you will provide communications with agents, brokers and insurance carriers while maintaining strong business relationships.  

    Essential job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

     

    • Soliciting, underwriting, analyzing and generating new and renewal business
    • Administering and monitoring underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations and rating manual rules
    • Work within established underwriting and servicing guidelines/standards
    • Achieve company & carrier underwriting and financial goals which includes retention and rate goals
    • Developing and maintaining carrier, agency and broker relationships
    • Determines terms and conditions and complex rating plans
    • Documents underwriting files that reflects a solid thought process and decision making through comprehensive account reviews, sign-offs and referrals

    You Should Have:

    • 2-3 years of multi-line underwriting experience preferably in Energy/Oil & Gas Industry
    • Bachelor’s Degree or experience equivalent to a degree; continuing insurance education desired
    • Fundamentals of coverage, terms and conditions.Ability to offer coverage, terms and conditions which generate a profit for the company while meeting the needs of the customer.
    • Risk Selection: Evaluates or assesses the business applying for insurance by qualifying accounts; identifying, selecting and assessing risks; ability to analyze claims and quantify losses; determining the premium, policy terms and conditions; obtaining approvals; creating/presenting the proposal to the agent/broker and successfully negotiating deals.
    • Financial proficiency.Understanding of financial statements and ratios used in risk analysis. Understanding of insurance financial fundamentals; impact of underwriting decisions on company assets. Ability to understand credit risk.
    • Actuarial fundamentals.Ability to understand loss trends, loss triangles, and ratemaking. Ability to quantify risk based on experience history and forecasting methods and analyze variables.
    • Marketing and Communications.Ability to sell and negotiate to achieve bottom line profitability for the Company. To communicate articulately and base communications on strategic thinking. Demonstrates a high level of responsiveness and focus on supporting Agents and Brokers objectives through successful negotiations. Develops and maintains the relationship through responsive service, 
    • Systems and programs.Ability to use systems and software programs needed to conduct daily business for rating; file documentation; communication
    • Strong negotiation, marketing and problem-solving skills
