What You’ll Do

The Talent Development Specialist is responsible for assessing needs, recommending training solutions, developing content, and delivering learning programs to exceed customer expectations.  Programs include both technical and non-technical training to include:  systems, coverage, risk, workflows, quality control standards, professional development, manager/leader development, and procedures.  Supports programs supporting insurance industry designations, and continuing education.  Programs may be delivered via instructor-led, virtual, and e-learning modalities.  Oversees development, delivery, and administration of required continuing education (CE) programs.  Develops relationships with line-of-business managers to support performance improvement, and to further anticipate learning and development needs. 

 

Essential job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Meet with managers to identify and prioritize educational objectives for specific individuals to improve insurance technical knowledge, insurance coverage and risk, best practices, procedure compliance and appropriate role competencies.
  • Design and deliver customized, job-specific training to new and tenured employees. Show ways to become accountable for own learning and development activities. 
  • Facilitates formal training programs by internal or external experts on subjects of general interest. Provide Continuing Education credit when possible.
  • Perform follow up meetings with managers to ensure training was effective to improve performance, and the customer experience.
  • Develops participant and instructor training materials. Builds templates to assist managers with development of their employees.  Assists with preparing tools to help employees for making the next step in their career. 
  • Utilize the learning management system (LMS) to record and manage learning events and performance improvement tools. Ensure all learning is recorded in the LMS. 
  • Use industry standard methods for evaluating business impact and effectiveness of training programs.

You Should Have:

  • Prior experience as an insurance coverage trainer, risk management trainer, account executive, manager, or producer is highly preferred.
  • Five to ten years of similar or related experience
  • Strong communications, interpersonal, and facilitation skills are required.
  • Ability to travel to other IMA offices on a routine basis is required.
  • Prior experience mentoring, and coaching adult learners is required.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience working in the insurance industry highly preferred.
  • CPCU, ARM or other professional insurance designations preferred.
  • Ability to define learning objectives, conduct evaluations, and utilize multiple methods for delivery of learning is preferred.
  • Prior experience with instructional design, and adult learning preferred.
  • Experience delivering large and small learning/training events preferred.
  • Prior management experience is preferred.
  • 4-year degree preferred.
